Maintenance Worker

Grandview Rehab is seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Worker to help maintain our nursing-home facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The role involves routine maintenance, repairs, preventive upkeep, and responding to maintenance requests or emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in building maintenance, facilities work, or a related trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) preferred.

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools; ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC tasks.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to respond quickly, and willingness to handle a variety of tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; reliable, punctual, adaptable, and ready to respond to emergencies or off-hour needs.

  • Physical ability to perform manual work: lift/move heavy objects, climb ladders, stand, bend, or kneel as needed.

  • A valid driver’s license may be required, depending on responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems — including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building fixtures.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance work orders and emergency repair requests (e.g., leaks, heating issues, broken fixtures) to maintain facility safety and comfort.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance: inspect systems and equipment, change filters, maintain heating/air-conditioning systems, check lights, replace bulbs, and service mechanical equipment as needed.

  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, drywall, door/window repairs, and general building upkeep.

  • Assist with preparation of resident rooms (e.g., after a discharge or before a new occupant) — including cleaning, furniture movement or repair, and ensuring proper setup.

  • Maintain grounds and exterior areas if required (e.g., snow removal, walkways, general exterior maintenance) — depending on facility size and responsibilities.

  • Document maintenance work, maintain inventory of tools and supplies, and report any safety hazards or major issues to the supervisor.

  • Provide support for facility safety and compliance, ensuring building systems meet state regulations, safety standards, and are properly maintained.
