Smoke Monitor
Grandview Rehab is seeking a Smoke Monitor to ensure that all residents comply with the facility’s smoking policy and safety regulations. This role helps maintain a safe, smoke-free environment inside the building while supporting residents who are permitted to smoke in designated outdoor areas.
The Smoke Monitor works closely with nursing and administrative staff to supervise smoking breaks, escort residents to and from the designated smoking areas, and ensure proper safety procedures are followed at all times.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in healthcare, security, or resident care preferred.
Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when addressing non-compliance.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Monitor and supervise residents during scheduled smoking times.
Ensure residents only smoke in approved outdoor areas.
Prevent and report any violations of the facility’s no-smoking policy.
Maintain awareness of residents’ safety, especially those with mobility or cognitive limitations.
Document incidents or concerns and report them to the nursing supervisor or administrator.
Promote a respectful and supportive environment for residents.
