Grandview is seeking a dedicated and reliable Evening Cook to join the team, a skilled nursing facility located in Connecticut. This position is for the evening shift. The Evening Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents in accordance with healthcare standards. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions in a healthcare environment.

  • Ability to read, write, and follow recipes and production sheets.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent preferred (may be required by state regulations).

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to the nursing home’s menu and dietary guidelines.

  • Ensure meals meet residents’ specific dietary restrictions (e.g., low-sodium, pureed, diabetic diets).

  • Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.

  • Ensure timely preparation and serving of meals for residents, staff, and guests.

  • Monitor and record food temperatures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Assist in maintaining inventory of food and supplies; notify supervisor of shortages.

  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas after meal preparation.

  • Collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.

  • Follow facility policies and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.

  • Participate in ongoing training and in-services as required by the facility.
