Grandview is seeking a dedicated and reliable Evening Cook to join the team, a skilled nursing facility located in Connecticut. This position is for the evening shift. The Evening Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents in accordance with healthcare standards. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting preferred.
Knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions in a healthcare environment.
Ability to read, write, and follow recipes and production sheets.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
ServSafe Certification or equivalent preferred (may be required by state regulations).
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Prepare and cook meals according to the nursing home’s menu and dietary guidelines.
Ensure meals meet residents’ specific dietary restrictions (e.g., low-sodium, pureed, diabetic diets).
Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
Ensure timely preparation and serving of meals for residents, staff, and guests.
Monitor and record food temperatures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Assist in maintaining inventory of food and supplies; notify supervisor of shortages.
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas after meal preparation.
Collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Follow facility policies and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.
Participate in ongoing training and in-services as required by the facility.
